Soccer Game Preview: Sage Hill vs. La Mirada

The Sage Hill Lightning will face off against the La Mirada Matadores at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sage Hill is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

Sage Hill is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Santa Maria a 1-0 shutout. Given the Lightning's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Saints are ranked 140th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, La Mirada won against Eagle Rock on Tuesday with one goal and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Thursday. La Mirada sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Heritage. That's two games straight that the Matadores have won by just one goal.

La Mirada's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four games. As for Sage Hill, their win bumped their record up to 15-3.
