Basketball Recap: Josie Petterson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Loyalton over Quincy

Loyalton suffered their biggest loss since November 25, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against the Quincy Trojans, falling 46-24. The matchup marked the Grizzlies' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josie Petterson, who posted eight points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mollie Griffin, who had 12 points.

Quincy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shelby Nussle led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine blocks. Another player making a difference was Marleigh Merino, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

Loyalton has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Quincy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Loyalton will be playing in front of their home fans against Elk Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Quincy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 39-34 defeat against Las Plumas on the 9th.
