Basketball Recap: Sofia Gozzo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mission Viejo over Northwood + How To Watch

Mission Viejo fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Northwood on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 57-53 to the Timberwolves. The Diablos lost against the Timberwolves in their previous head to head back in November of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 67-36 score last time.

Several Diablos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sofia Gozzo, who posted 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Gozzo has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maria Isabela Valencia, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 19 boards.

Mission Viejo now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Northwood, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Mission Viejo will take on Rancho Alamitos at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Northwood, they will host Katella at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
