Basketball Recap: Murrieta Valley Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Vista Murrieta came into Wednesday's game looking for another win against Murrieta Valley, but Valerie Lauritzen wouldn't allow it. The Murrieta Valley Nighthawks strolled past the Vista Murrieta Broncos with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 69-52 thanks in part to Lauritzen, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 25 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 25 times she's played.

Sarah Everett was another key player, putting up two points along with eight boards and four steals. Those four steals gave her a new career-high.

Despite the defeat, Vista Murrieta saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alana Burnett dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Burnett is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Shajade Banks, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 boards.

Murrieta Valley pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.8 points. As for Vista Murrieta, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-10.
