Basketball Game Preview: Lakeview Sailors vs. Kennedy Catholic

Lakeview is 0-9 against Kennedy Catholic since December of 2014 but things could change on Saturday. The Lakeview Sailors will face off against Kennedy Catholic at 5:00 p.m. Lakeview has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.

Lakeview is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 58-46 win over Wilmington.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Catholic came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 57-42 victory over the Knights. Given Kennedy Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Eisenhower is ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lakeview better keep an eye on Layke Fields. She was instrumental in Kennedy Catholic's win, dropping a double-double with 31 points and 18 rebounds. Fields is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 47% in the last 36 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Tori Harvey, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Kennedy Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matchups.

Lakeview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points over those games. Kennedy Catholic's record is now 17-5.

Lakeview might still be hurting after the 62-39 loss they got from Kennedy Catholic in their previous matchup back in February. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lakeview was down 36-12.
