Softball Recap: Central Indians vs. Oak Park Northmen
Central had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it eight. They came up short against the Oak Park Northmen, falling 9-2. The Indians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Northmen earlier this season, when they won 16-2.
As for Oak Park, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-8. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 7, 2024 (when they won 18-0).
For Oak Park's part, Karissa Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off nine hits. Davis was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Central will challenge rival Park Hill South at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Oak Park is set to face off against their familiar foe Park Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
