Basketball Recap: Valencia Skates Past Golden Valley with Ease

Valencia had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They breezed by the Golden Valley Grizzlies to the tune of 56-23. With the Vikings ahead 32-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Valencia was led to victory by Kamilla Basyrova and Cara McKell. Basyrova went 7 for 15 on her way to 18 points and three steals, while McKell went 6 of 7 en route to 14 points. Alexis Epie was another key player, putting up five points.

Golden Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Krysta Ezenwa and Jaia Bryant. Ezenwa almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Bryant posted nine points. That was a full 60.9% of Golden Valley's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Valencia is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. As for Golden Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.
