Recap: Chavez Titans vs. Taft Wildcats

The Chavez Titans waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They strolled past Taft with points to spare, taking the game 47-28. That's another feather in the cap for Chavez, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Chavez can attribute much of their success to Hannah Diaz, who scored 21 points along with four blocks. Chloe Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.

Chavez pushed their record up to 7-8 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Taft, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chavez will face off against Kennedy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Taft, they will head out on the road to square off against Wasco at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Wasco and three for Taft.
