Basketball Game Preview: Floyd Central Highlanders vs. Columbus East Olympians

Floyd Central hasn't had much luck against Columbus East recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Highlanders will take on the Olympians at 7:30 p.m. Floyd Central will be strutting in after a win while Columbus East will be coming in after a loss.

On Saturday, Floyd Central beat Evansville Reitz 42-31.

Meanwhile, Columbus East played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Trinity Lutheran and fell 61-31. The Olympians were down 46-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Floyd Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points over those games. As for Columbus East, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything came up roses for Floyd Central against Columbus East in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 65-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
