Basketball Game Preview: Sierra Timberwolves vs. El Capitan Gauchos

The Sierra Timberwolves will challenge the El Capitan Gauchos at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Sierra earned a 45-32 victory over Livingston. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Timberwolves.

Sierra's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emalina Latu led the charge by going 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points, to go along with six rebounds and three steals. Latu continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janessa Barnes, who posted eight points, to go along with ten rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, El Capitan put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 76-29 win over Central Catholic. The Gauchos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season.

El Capitan's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 41.4 points. As for Sierra, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
