The Harrison Raiders will face off against the Cathedral Fighting Irish at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Harrison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Harrison easily dispatched Benton Central on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Raiders fell just short of Western by a score of 11-9 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raiders have suffered since April 10th.
Kendrick Pena was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Keys, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Cathedral faced Franklin Community in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Fighting Irish walked away with an 11-6 win over the Grizzly Cubs. The victory continues a trend for the Fighting Irish in their matchups with the Grizzly Cubs: they've now won four in a row.
Landon Hughes tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cathedral let Eli Sinsabaugh and Connor Christiansen run wild. Sinsabaugh went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Christiansen went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Christiansen has posted since back in April. Royce Ward was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Harrison's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Cathedral, their win bumped their record up to 16-8-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Harrison has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cathedral struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Harrison came out on top in a nail-biter against Cathedral in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Fighting Irish have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
