Basketball Recap: Dunsmuir Gets the Win

Dunsmuir won against Surprise Valley last Friday with 45 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Dunsmuir Tigers managed a 45-41 win over the Elk Creek Elks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 32-18 back in December of 2024.

Elk Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cheryl Burrows, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 14 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Wanhene Pete, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Dunsmuir is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-9 record this season. As for Elk Creek, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Dunsmuir has already played their next contest, a 45-22 loss against Happy Camp on the 24th. As for Elk Creek, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Plumas Charter at 4:00 p.m. Elk Creek has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
