Softball Game Preview: Pace Academy Knights vs. Decatur Bulldogs

The Pace Academy Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Decatur Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pace Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Pace Academy came up short against East Paulding and fell 11-7.

Megan Wrigley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Wrigley is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Bodhi Venturi also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Meanwhile, Decatur had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 13-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 13 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Decatur's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Pace Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

Pace Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Decatur when the teams last played back in October of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
