Wheat Ridge came out on top against Conifer on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Farmers were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Lobos. Haley Cross was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Evelyn Detwiler was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in September. Hailey Piel was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
The win made it two in a row for Wheat Ridge and bumps their season record up to 7-12-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.
