Baseball Game Preview: Southwest Patriots vs. East Laurens Falcons

Southwest hasn't had much luck against East Laurens recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Southwest will challenge East Laurens at 6:00 p.m. Southwest has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southwest is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against East Laurens, falling 12-0.

For East Laurens' part, they got a great performance from Jakeb Logue as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. That one hit allowed gave Logue a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Konner Oneal was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for East Laurens: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 4-9 otherwise. Kaden Mimbs was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

East Laurens is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. Southwest's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
