Softball Recap: Pueblo County Takes a Loss

If Pueblo County was feeling good fresh off their 9-3 takedown of Mesa Ridge last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Lancers on Friday. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Pueblo County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eruka Peterson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Peterson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Pueblo County's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Pueblo County will face off against Pine Creek at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty, they will take on Lewis-Palmer in a tournament on Friday. The Rangers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.8 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
