Basketball Recap: Riverside Comes Up Short

Riverside lost against Quaker Valley on January 2nd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Riverside Panthers took a hard 47-32 fall against the Quaker Valley Quakers.

It was another big night for Oumou Thiero, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 24 rebounds for Quaker Valley. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Thiero has scored at least a third of Quaker Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Leasia Karto, who went 6 of 12 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Riverside has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Quaker Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Riverside will challenge Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Riverside likes a good challenge. Quaker Valley has already played their next match (against New Brighton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
