South Effingham faced Effingham County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 4-3. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Cheniyah Jackson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cadi Hendry made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Martin, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

South Effingham's defeat dropped their record down to 18-3. As for Effingham County, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 23-6.

Looking ahead, South Effingham will take on Wayne County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Effingham County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
