Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Crusaders vs. Peninsula Catholic Knights

The Catholic Crusaders are taking a road trip to face off against the Peninsula Catholic Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Catholic will be strutting in after a victory while Peninsula Catholic will be coming in after a loss.

Catholic barely beat Norfolk Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Crusaders' pitchers stepped up to hand the Ambassadors an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Crusaders not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 21-3).

Meanwhile, Peninsula Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Norfolk Academy, falling 17-6.

Garrett Robison put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Aidan Casey made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

Peninsula Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Catholic, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-10.

Catholic beat Peninsula Catholic 4-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
