Volleyball Recap: Manzano Comes Up Short

Manzano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the La Cueva Bears, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in October.

Manzano was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made La Cueva work for it, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-11, 26-12.

La Cueva's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sofia Flores-Gallegos, who had five aces and four digs. With that strong performance, Flores-Gallegos is now averaging an impressive 2 aces per game. Another player making a difference was Chayse McGuire, who had six digs and six assists.

Manzano's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for La Cueva, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 21-2.

As of now, neither Manzano nor the Bears have any future games scheduled.
