Soccer Game Preview: San Gabriel vs. Alhambra

San Gabriel is 0-9-1 against Alhambra since January of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The San Gabriel Matadors will host the Alhambra Moors at 5:30 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Last Friday, San Gabriel came up short against Mark Keppel and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 435th, while the Aztecs are ranked 200th).

San Gabriel's goal came courtesy of Niyah Davis, who's now up to 20 this season.

Meanwhile, Alhambra hadn't done well against Schurr recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Alhambra never let Schurr onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. The result kept the Moors happy, as they haven't lost a game since December 12, 2024.

Alhambra's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three matches. As for San Gabriel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-5-2.

San Gabriel might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Alhambra when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can San Gabriel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
