Baseball Game Preview: Van Bulldogs vs. Calhoun Red Devils

Van hasn't had much luck against Calhoun recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. Van has given up an average of 14.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mount Hope Christian Academy hit Van with a eight-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs lost 18-7 to the Warriors. On the bright side, the seven- run effort marked the Bulldogs' highest-scoring contest to date.

Meanwhile, Calhoun came up short against Ritchie County on Friday and fell 9-6.

Reese Schoolcraft was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Garrett Carpenter, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Van's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Calhoun, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-22.

Van suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Calhoun in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
