Soccer Game Preview: Chula Vista vs. Otay Ranch

The Chula Vista Spartans will head out to take on the Otay Ranch Mustangs at 6:03 p.m. on Friday. Chula Vista's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Chula Vista took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Castle Park out 2-1. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Christina Trujillo was the driving force of Chula Vista's attack as she scored both of Chula Vista's goals, bringing her season total up to six goals.

Meanwhile, Otay Ranch's game on Thursday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Mater Dei Catholic by a score of 2-1. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chula Vista's victory bumped their record up to 3-13. As for Otay Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Chula Vista might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Otay Ranch when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Can Chula Vista avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
