Basketball Game Preview: Costa Mesa Mustangs vs. Ayala Bulldogs

The Costa Mesa Mustangs and the Ayala Bulldogs will round out the year against one another at on Monday. Costa Mesa has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Costa Mesa turned things around against Eisenhower on Saturday. They snuck past the Eagles with a 48-42 win.

Emi Kamikihara continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 18 points in addition to five boards and five steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Terry, who posted seven points along with six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Ayala suffered their biggest defeat since January 31st on Saturday. They were dealt a 60-31 loss at the hands of King. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while the Wolves are ranked 53rd).

Ayala has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Costa Mesa, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
