Softball Recap: Central City's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Central City had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Lakeview on Tuesday. The Bison put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 8-0 victory. Considering the Bison have won three matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Payton Burbach made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Burbach was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in September of 2024.

In other batting news, Journi Schindler and Juno Ryan did most of the damage at the plate: Schindler went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ryan went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave Ryan a new career-high. Paige Grigsby also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The win keeps Central City at an undefeated 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.3 runs this season. As for Lakeview, they suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central City will take on Centura at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakeview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Blue River at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
