Basketball Game Preview: Clarion-Limestone Lions vs. Redbank Valley Bulldogs

Clarion-Limestone hasn't had much luck against Redbank Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Clarion-Limestone Lions will be home for the holidays to greet the Redbank Valley Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Clarion-Limestone didn't have quite enough to beat Moniteau and fell 51-48. The loss was the Lions' first of the season.

Despite the defeat, Clarion-Limestone saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hannah Beggs almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Beggs has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Erika Meals, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Clarion-Limestone smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Redbank Valley put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cranberry Area 68-35. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 33 points or more this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Clarion-Limestone fell to 2-1. As for Redbank Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Clarion-Limestone was taken down by Redbank Valley 71-41 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Redbank Valley's Mylee Harmon, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine assists. Now that Clarion-Limestone knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
