Baseball Recap: Gainesville Has No Trouble Against Lanier

Gainesville barely beat Lanier the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gainesville Red Elephants were the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over the Lanier Longhorns on Monday. The game marked the Red Elephants' most dominant win of the season.

The team relied heavily on CJ Saudarg, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Beckett Brown also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The victory (which was Gainesville's third in a row) raised their record to 5-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lanier, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Gainesville will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lanier: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
