Basketball Game Preview: Chico Panthers vs. Christian Brothers Falcons

The Chico Panthers will square off against the Christian Brothers Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Chico is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 73-72 to Foothill. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Despite the defeat, Chico got top-tier performance from Josie Carlos, who went 12 of 27 en route to 36 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Carlos a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Cawthon, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 14 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Christian Brothers beat Woodcreek 58-50 on Thursday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Christian Brothers has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Chico, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.
