Softball Game Preview: American Leadership Academy-Johnston Patriots vs. East Wake Academy Eagles

The American Leadership Academy-Johnston Patriots will head out to face off against the East Wake Academy Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Last Wednesday, American Leadership Academy-Johnston made easy work of Fike and carried off a 12-5 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by seven runs or more this season.

Amelia Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, American Leadership Academy-Johnston got a massive performance out of Makayla Cooke, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That stolen base was Cooke's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sari Munoz, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Wake Academy). Everything went their way against Thales Academy Rolesville on Friday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.

The win made it two in a row for East Wake Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

American Leadership Academy-Johnston might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from East Wake Academy in their previous matchup back in February. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
