Basketball Recap: West Jefferson Starts Season with Loss at Home

West Jefferson unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. The matchup between the Buccaneers and the John Ehret Patriots didn't end well, with the Buccaneers falling 40-23. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 12 in a row.

Despite the loss, West Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Savannah Washington, who went 8-for-19 en route to 17 points.

The victory got John Ehret back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Jefferson and St. Mary's Academy will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played. As for John Ehret, they will face off against Edna Karr at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
