Football Recap: Pantego Christian Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Pantego Christian dropped to 8-2 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 35-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Covenant Christian Cougars. The Panthers lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 42-0 score last time.

Despite the loss, Pantego Christian still got an impressive performance from Anthony Jackson, who rushed for 200 yards while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.

As for Covenant Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.6 points over those games.

Covenant Christian had a senior duo take command as Aaron Turner gained 199 total yards and three touchdowns and Peyton Jankowski threw for 292 yards and two touchdowns. Turner also posted 131 receiving yards, which is notable because the Cougars are 3-1 when he posts at least 80 receiving yards, but 2-4 otherwise. Lucas Wallace did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 102 receiving yards.

Looking ahead, Pantego Christian will square off against Covenant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Covenant Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
