Baseball Recap: Lewis Cass Takes a Loss

Lewis Cass extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 9-11. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Triton Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Kings of the 8-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Triton, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For Triton's part, Braxton Kaufman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Max Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Lewis Cass is taking a road trip to face off against Wabash at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Kings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Apaches have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Triton, they will challenge LaVille at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.1 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
