Baseball Recap: Wilcox County Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wilcox County had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, they had to take a 4-2 loss.

Deacon Harper made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Talon McKinney, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Bo Bloodworth was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Wilcox County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-8 record this season. As for Emanuel County Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 29-9.

Coming up, Wilcox County will challenge Lanier County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Emanuel County Institute does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
