Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Canevin Crusaders vs. Clairton Bears

Two dominant guards in Belle Sysak and Iyanna Wade are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bishop Canevin Crusaders will venture away from home to face off against the Clairton Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Canevin will be strutting in after a win while Clairton will be coming in after a defeat.

Bishop Canevin is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Monessen to the tune of 65-14 on Saturday. With the Crusaders ahead 38-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Bishop Canevin found their leader in sophomore Kya Cooley, who posted 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for Cooley. Another player making a difference was Sysak, who earned 19 points.

Meanwhile, Clairton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 50-46 to Serra Catholic.

Clairton's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. As for Bishop Canevin, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Bishop Canevin opened the new year with a less-than-successful 52-43 defeat to Clairton. Can Bishop Canevin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
