Basketball Recap: Stone Ridge Christian Piles Up the Points Against Denair

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stone Ridge Christian). They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat the Denair Coyotes 59-29. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Knights with their most commanding win of the season.

Stone Ridge Christian was led to victory by Bella Ewing and Tailynn Dungy. Ewing posted 29 points, while Dungy put up 25 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Ewing has scored at least a third of Stone Ridge Christian's points.

Despite the defeat, Denair saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Piper Northcutt almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Northcutt is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addyson Ramos, who had two points and four steals.

The win made it two in a row for Stone Ridge Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-5. As for Denair, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Stone Ridge Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-30 victory against Gustine on the 7th. As for Denair, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 37-28 loss against Le Grand on the 9th.
