Basketball Recap: Tamaqua Comes Up Short

Tamaqua lost against North Schuylkill last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Tamaqua Blue Raiders were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to the North Schuylkill Spartans.

Tamaqua lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Millie Black, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games she's played. Lauren Ligenza was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Tamaqua smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Tamaqua's defeat dropped their record down to 18-6. As for North Schuylkill, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.

Looking ahead, Tamaqua is taking a road trip to take on Louis E. Dieruff at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for North Schuylkill, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-31 loss against Schuylkill Haven on the 14th.
