Softball Recap: Duchesne/Roncalli Comes Up Short

Duchesne/Roncalli extended their losing streak to ten on Thursday, dropping them down to 9-16. They came up short against the Gross Catholic Cougars, falling 10-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Duchesne/Roncalli has suffered against Gross Catholic since October 4, 2021.

Aleah Rivera made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Londyn Scebold, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

As for Gross Catholic, the victory got them back to even at 12-12. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Gross Catholic's side, Clara Meeker looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meeker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Julianna Braun was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Kosse, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Duchesne/Roncalli does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gross Catholic, they will square off against Skutt Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The SkyHawks will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
