Basketball Recap: Santa Margarita Comes Up Short

Santa Margarita was the 63-47 winner over San Juan Hills when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Santa Margarita Eagles took a 55-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the San Juan Hills Stallions.

Anna Shreeve was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds for San Juan Hills. Shreeve has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Tatum Davis was another key player, putting up six points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Santa Margarita's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for San Juan Hills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.

Santa Margarita and San Juan Hills should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Santa Margarita (ranked 41st) will meet Northwood (ranked 851st) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, San Juan Hills (ranked 113th) will meet Carlsbad (ranked 392nd) at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
