Basketball Recap: Frankford's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Frankford was riding high fresh off their 51-13 takedown of Northeast last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Frankford Pioneers came up short against St. Hubert Catholic for Girls on Friday, falling 51-28. The Pioneers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-13.

Frankford's loss came despite strong showings from Emma Raif and Janeliss Laboy. Raif posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals, while Laboy had nine points and five steals. With that strong performance, Raif is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game.

Even though they lost, Frankford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Hubert Catholic for Girls to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luca D'Andrea, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. What's more, D'Andrea also racked up five steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Mia Ronan was another key player, putting up 17 points along with five boards and three steals.

Frankford's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3. As for St. Hubert Catholic for Girls, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9.

Frankford has already played their next contest, a 62-12 victory against Overbrook on the 27th. St. Hubert Catholic for Girls has also already played their next game (against Archbishop Ryan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
