The Walter Johnson Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Northwest Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Walter Johnson and Bethesda-Chevy Chase have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Wildcats took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Barons. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly seven points.

Walter Johnson's loss came about despite a quality game from Jake Forburger, who threw for 115 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 35 yards. Forburger's passing game has become a key predictor of the Wildcats' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwest). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Seneca Valley 45-7. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Northwest's win came from a few key players Walter Johnson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jayden Vongprachanh-Nelson, who threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 154.4 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Isaiah Taylor helped Vongprachanh-Nelson out on the ground, rushing for 113 yards and one score on only ten carries.
Northwest didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Seneca Valley to a completion percentage of just 38.5%. The Jaguars have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.6 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.6 in their last three games.
Northwest is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.8 points on average over those games. As for Walter Johnson, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 2-4.
Walter Johnson skirted past Northwest 10-7 in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
