Basketball Recap: Northridge Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Northridge Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 43-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hoover Tornados.

Despite the loss, Northridge Academy still got an impressive performance from Janelle Estrella, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The game was Estrella's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jennalyn Gerona, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Northridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hoover to victory, but perhaps none more so than Susanna Ohanyan, who put up seven points.

Northridge Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-2. As for Hoover, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Northridge Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-28 victory against Sun Valley Magnet on the 7th. As for Hoover, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-31 defeat against AGBU on the 12th.
