Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Washington-Liberty's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Chattanooga Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Washington-Liberty proved too difficult a challenge. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Chargers a 10-0 shutout. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Jack Keane, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Chattanooga Christian off the board.

On the hitting side, Sean Guffey was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Henry Gerber was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Washington-Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Washington-Liberty has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chattanooga Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-11.

Washington-Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Summerville on the 17th. As for Chattanooga Christian, they will be playing at home against Silverdale Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Seahawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
