Baseball Recap: Jenkins Wins Going Away Against New Hampstead

Jenkins lost to New Hampstead back in February, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Jenkins Warriors were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over the New Hampstead Phoenix. Considering the Warriors have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jenkins got a massive performance out of DJ Rohan, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Rohan has become a key player for Jenkins: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Marquis Bush was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3.

Jenkins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Jenkins is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. The loss snapped New Hampstead's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-1 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jenkins will take on Bryan County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for New Hampstead, they will face off against Ware County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
