Winside hasn't had much luck against Tri County Northeast recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will be home for the holidays to greet the Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. Winside will be strutting in after a victory while Tri County Northeast will be coming in after a loss.
Winside is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Newman Grove/St. Edward 64-29. The Wildcats pushed the score to 50-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers had little chance of recovering from.

Winside found their leader in freshman Aftyn Schutt, who shot 67% from the field on her way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schutt has scored all season. Ellie Topp was another key player, going 7-for-14 to rack up 15 points along with eight boards and three steals.
Winside was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-42, which was the final score in Tri County Northeast's tilt against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Friday. The Wolfpack have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Winside will have to keep a close watch on Briley Anderson and Joslyn Mackling, a pair of players who had a big impact on Tri County Northeast's prior game. Anderson dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Mackling posted 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of DeLaney Fuchser, who put up six points.
Tri County Northeast now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Winside, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Winside has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Tri County Northeast struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 32.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
