Glasgow hasn't had much luck against Fayette recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Glasgow comes in on five and Fayette on four.
Glasgow is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Tina-Avalon with a sharp 17-1 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Yellowjackets have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooklynn Morris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kenley Strodtman was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Riley Olendorff, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Glasgow always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Fayette ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over Salisbury.
Payton Kindle spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and eight unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Grecyn Syferd and Leah Thies did most of the damage at the plate: Syferd went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Thies went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave Thies a new career-high. Kenna Vroman was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Fayette's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Glasgow, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
