Basketball Recap: North Star Takes a Loss

North Star was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Somerset Eagles 56-20. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Eve Housley was her usual excellent self, putting up 26 points along with six boards and five assists for Somerset. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Housley has scored at least a third of Somerset's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Stanton, who posted 14 points and five rebounds.

North Star's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Somerset, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the North Star Cougars challenge the Shade Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Shade has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Somerset, they will head out to face off against Philipsburg-Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Somerset is facing Philipsburg-Osceola at the right time seeing as Philipsburg-Osceola is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
