Baseball Game Preview: Roane County Raiders vs. Clay County Panthers

The Roane County Raiders will challenge the Clay County Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Roane County is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

On Monday, Roane County came up short against Logan and fell 8-4.

Roane County got a big performance out of Jacob Greathouse, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Greathouse is becoming a predictor of the Raiders' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 7-15 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Kinder, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Clay County came up short against Scott on Monday, falling 14-2. The Panthers have struggled against the Skyhawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Pierce Adkins was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Clay County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-17. As for Roane County, their loss dropped their record down to 11-16.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Roane County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Clay County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Roane County got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April against Clay County by a conclusive 15-4 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
