Basketball Recap: La Jolla Snags 11th Victory in Last 14 Games

La Jolla had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They managed a 39-35 victory over the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs on Saturday. 39 seems to be a good number for the Vikings as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Reagan Bennett was her usual excellent self, en route to 24 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was AJ Jacoby, who put up four points and nine boards.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julia Holmes, who earned four points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Holmes has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Lillian Malewicz was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

La Jolla has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. San Dieguito Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

Coming up, La Jolla will take on Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Christian comes in on 15 and La Jolla on eight. San Dieguito Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
