Andover extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 4-1. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 62-61 W against the Anoka Tornadoes. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Huskies were down 42-21 in the second quarter.

It was another big night for Joseph Mapson, who rushed for 156 yards and four scores while picking up 8.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 296 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Those 296 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Andover's leading receiver Aidan Wiegert was Mapson's top target yet again, picking up 133 receiving yards and two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Andover was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 276 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in ten consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Wiegert, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

As for Anoka, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5. They were up 42-21 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

When it comes to explaining why Anoka lost, don't look at Brody Rush. Despite the final result, he rushed for 300 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 57 receiving yards. With that strong performance, Rush is now averaging an impressive 103.2 rushing yards per game. Blake Sieben was another key player, throwing for 331 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt.

Andover has already played their next game, a 34-31 win against Rogers on the 3rd. As for Anoka, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 42-41 defeat against Champlin Park on the 3rd.
