Elgin/Pope John gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 49-36 win over the Riverside Chargers. The Wolfpack have beaten the Chargers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Chargers has come to flipping the script.

Jarek Erickson had a dynamite game, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 14 boards. Another player making a difference was Max Henn, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was AJ Glesinger, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landyn Carraher, who put up nine points.
